Born in Naples, she attended her singing studies at the “San Pietro a Majella” Conservatory in Naples, graduating with honors in Canto Lirico, Canto e Coralità, and Musica Vocale da Camera. In 1995 she won the “Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition” in Philadelphia and made her debut in Falstaff (Meg) and Lucia di Lammermoor(Alisa) at the Philadelphia Academy of Music. In 1996 she was the winner of the 28th “Toti dal Monte” International Competition in Treviso and this gave her the chance to debut in Il matrimonio segreto (Fidalma) at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso and after at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo at the end of the “Bottega” hold by Peter Maag. In the same year Luciano Pavarotti and Claudio Abbado awarded her the “Amadeus Prize” and a scholarship for further vocal training. In 2002 she was selected from Alberto Zedda as Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims for Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro. In 2004 the Beniaminio Gigli Association Helsinki awarded her the “Gigli Prize”. 

 

A great interpreter of the 19th Century music,she successfully performed in the roles of Cuniza in Oberto,conte di San Bonifacio at the Macerata Opera Festival opposite Michele Pertusi, with the direction of Pier’Alli and Callegari on the podium; Meg in Falstaff at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova with Ruggiero Raimondi (Giancarlo del Monaco,stage director; Giuliano Carella,conductor); Isoletta in La straniera at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania under the baton of Alain Guingal; Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival, Emilio Sagi, stage director; Roggiero in Tancredi at the Teatri di Piacenza, Modena, Ferrara, Reggio Emilia and at the Opéra de Montecarlo with Raul Giménez; Lucilla in La scala di seta at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo; Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia in Padova; Tisbe in La Cenerentola at the Teatro Bellini di Catania conducting Stefano Ranzani and at the Teatro Principal de Mahòn in Menorca with Vivica Genaux and Will Humburg on the podium. Prestigious was her debut as Adalgisa in Norma on a Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania tour to the Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo with Dimitra Theodossiou under the baton of Giuliano Carella, than to St Petersburg, once again in a Japan tour ,where she performed also in the role of Teresa in La Sonnambula, and more recently at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania. She made her debut at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli in Il Trovatore (Cedolins/Licitra;dir.Gabriele Ferro). In the late romantic French repertoire she was appreciated in Les contes d’Hoffmann at the TeatroVerdi di Sassari,and in Carmen at the Verdi di Salerno,under the baton of Yoram David. Recently she was Enrichetta iin I Puritani at the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, at the Amsterdam Concertgebow, conductor Maurizio Benini.

 

Her extensive operatic credits also include some of the most important 20th Century compositions, such as Gianni Schicchi (Zita) at the Wexford Opera Festival and at the Dresden Semperoper ; The Turn of the Screw (Mrs Groose) with Raina Kabaivanska and the direction of Luca Ronconi at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari , where she has subsequently returned for the Italian première of Die Ägiptische Helena staged by Denis Krief. At the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania she performed L’amour des Trois Oranges (Linette) with the direction of Gilbert Deflo and the conducting of Yoram David, and Die Walküre (Rossweise) with Hildegard Behrens (Cesare Lievi, director; Zoltan Pesko, conductor). She particularly met with an outstanding success having sung as Baronessa di Champigny in Il cappello di paglia di Firenze at the Wiener Kammeroper, in Hänsel und Gretel at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo with Günter Neuhold on the podium as Hänsel and than at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania with the conducting of Fabrizio Carminati as Knusperhexe. She performed in Porgy & Bess (concert version) at the Teatro Verdi di Sassari, in Anything goes (Reno) with the Sanremo Sinphonic Orchestra and in Pikovaja Dama at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli conducted by Jerzy Semkow. Very appreciated her recital for the Federico II University concertistic season in Neaples Gershwin: the man I love. Recently she was Regina and Vecchietta in La Bella dormente nel bosco di Respighi al teatro Rendano di Cosenza with DVD recording for Bongiovanni.

 

Known as a very versatile artist, she also portrayed several roles of the ‘700 repertory. Among them, Dorabella in Così fan tutte in a co-production Teatro Massimo di Palermo-Teatro Manoel in Malta, directed by Mauro Avogadro. She particularly dedicates herself to the Neapolitan music, performing première of Miserere by Paisiello for the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, in the first modern performance of Stabat Mater by Abos for the reopening of the Sala Scarlatti di Napoli, working with Roberto De Simone, in Confitebur Tibi Domine and Messa di S. Emidio by Pergolesi, Salve Regina by Anfossi and Stabat Mater by Logroscino at the Festival dell’Aurora in Calabria, in Stabat Mater by Pergolesi with the Alessandro Scarlatti Orchestra in Napoli. She also enjoys a successful collaboration with the “Pietà de’ Turchini” ensemble, which brought her to successfully sing in the first modern performance of Motezuma by de Majo at the Aschaffenburg Stadttheater,at the Lisbona Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and than at the Teatro Mercadante di Napoli. Recently she was entirely successful as Serpina in La Serva Padrona by Paisiello reopening the Teatro Sangiorgi di Catania (Teatro Massimo Bellini) and than as Serpilla in Il Giocatore by Cherubini. Very apprecieted her recent recital at Fondation Royaumont Festival in France: Neapolitan soirée between XVIII and XIX sec - unpublished cameristic arias.

 

Her discography includes Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio (Fonè), Bianca e Falliero (Opera Rara) with Jennifer Larmore and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Just for a while (Fonè) - standard jazz for voice and percussion, a DVD of La Serva Padrona by Paisiello (Fabula Classica-Ermitage) and La Sonnambula (Dynamic). Coming soon Dvd of La Bella Dormente nel bosco by Respighi (Bongiovanni) and Cd of Il Finto Turco by Piccinni(CPO).

Very important thenew production of Otello for the Opening of Festival di Verdi at the Teatro Regio di Parma, director Pier Luigi Pizzi and conductor Daniele Callegari, and her debut in the role of Amneris in Aida by Verdi in Salerno.

 

Recent planes includes a new production of La Traviata at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli with Jordi Bernàcier on the podium and the direction of Lorenzo Amato, a Recital  in duo with pianist Dario Candela Promenade Napoletaine  with composition by Gabriel Fauré, Franco Alfano, Francis Poulenc, Mario Pilati for the XX Concerts Season of Fondazione Pietà de' Turchini in Napoli - Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano, Mater Mediterranea by Enzo Amato for the XIX Festival Internazionale del '700 Musicale Napoletano and for opening concert of Festival della Canzone Napoletana di Calvello directed by her, where she interpreted the role of Virginia in Donizetti, Amore e Morte, and the role of Isabella Fabbrica in Mercadante, il Viaggio del Ritorno di Antonio Mocciola; and her new project for Matera 2019, Capitale Europea della Cultura,  where she also  performed in a concert La Musica al tempo dei Borbone  dedicated to Paisiello, Piccinni, Mercadante, Donizetti and Rossini. Very important Recitals:  Le Rossini Français  for the Rossinian Celebration of the Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti di Napoli with introduction of musicologist Sergio Ragni, performed also in Sala Comencini - Palazzo Zapata in Neaples for Festival del '700 Musicale Napoletano and at Teatro del Popolo in Gallarate for Puccini Conservatory Season Concerts; All'Ombra del Vesuvio opening recital  of La Settimana di Musica d'Insieme dell'Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti and the new collaboration with Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti for Seasons Concerts of  Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. 

Coming very soon Messa Funebre in Memoria di Bellini by Pacini for Bellini International Context - collaboration Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania e Conservatorio di Musica Bellini di Catania, and Voce dal sen fuggita Dai Castrati ai Soprani, la Rivoluzione di un'Epoca (Giuditta Pasta) for XXII Festival Internazionale del '700 Musicale Napoletano.

At the same time she is teaching in AFAM world: currently she is Professor  of Teorie e Tecniche dell'Interpretazione Scenica and Canto Barocco at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Stanislao Giacomantonio di Cosenza; Professor of Singing at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Arturo Toscanini in Ribera (AG); previously Professor of Teorie e Tecniche dell'Interpretazione Scenica at the Conservatorio Musica Gesualdo da Venosa in Potenza, where also recives the assignment of Referente Comunicazione Attività Istituzionali and at the Conservatorio Statale Giacomo Puccini in Gallarate (VA).
